Our regular monthly meeting for August has been CHANGED.  Instead of having our meeting on the 27th of August, we will be having our meeting on the 3rd of September.  However, it will remain at the same time (0830) and place (Denny's).

Congratulations to Clint Brown, Dana Trantham and Mike Webb for receiving the highest vote count for Local 865's Executive Board positions.  It was truly a tight count and anyone could have taken the spots.  So, now comes the fun part-the work.  We have an enormous year ahead with numerous goals and objectives to accomplish.  Out of all the goals and objectives, our biggest priority will be the public safety collective bargaining bill.  I hope you guys are ready to work because we have a lot to do.

To All Local 865 Members:

Ballots have been mailed for the three available Executive Board positions.  These ballots must be received by June 16th, 2010.  PLEASE NOTE: Andy Randalls has removed his name from the election process.  Please make your selections based upon the six remaining candidates.

Nominations for Local 865 Executive Board positions were closed during today's meeting, April 23, 2010.  No additional members were nominated, so those who were nominated from last month's meeting will be running for the positions.  The voting process will commence within the next 30 calendar days.  Members, please log into your account to read additional information from the minutes. 

Congratulations to Mike Marshall for winning another two (2) year presidential term in Local 865.

Also, the nomination process has been opened for all three (3) Association Executive Board Members.  The nomination process will continue through the April 2010 regular membership meeting.  Please contact any Local 865 Executive Board member if you want to nominate yourself or someone else for the position.  Assuming there are more than three (3) nominations, there will be a voting process.  Voting will begin within one (1) month following the closing of the nomination process.  Please notice: Any Executive Board nominee who wishes to post his or her biography on the AFFA's website should email Scott Mullins or Bjorn Larson.  Local 865 will not endorse any candidate, but will allow active members to use any available Local 865 resource to distribute information.  The following nominations were accepted during the March 2010 meeting:

Congratulations to Local 865 Member David McFee.  McFee, long time member and former AFFA President, was recently promoted to Assistant Chief.  He continues to be a friend to the AFFA  as he, along with Chief Scott Burnette, meets with the Union Executive Board monthly to hear our concerns while keeping us up to speed on department issues.  We are fortunate to have such a luxury.
